Pollo Asado bowl, foil-wrapped burrito and chips at Chipotle

If you’ve been to Chipotle since the end of August, you’ve probably noticed two new things on the menu board. Pollo Asado is back with a new recipe, and Chili Lime Chips are the first flavored chips Chipotle has ever sold. October brings two more reasons to go: a $6 margarita poured at only five pop-up restaurants, and Boorito on Halloween.

Pollo Asado: what’s new and what it costs

Pollo Asado first ran at Chipotle in 2022 and then left the menu. The version that came back on August 31 starts with adobo chicken, adds garlic, Mexican spices and hand-cut cilantro, and finishes with citrus and lime. “The citrus finish cuts through the smoky notes of the chicken,” Nevielle Panthaky, Chipotle’s senior vice president of culinary, said in the launch announcement

Expect to pay 60 cents more than regular chicken. That gap held at all four restaurants where prices were taken from Chipotle’s ordering system on September 17, 2026 Living in Guatemala

CityChicken burrito or bowlPollo Asado burrito or bowl
Chicago$9.35$9.95
Houston$9.50$10.10
Los Angeles$10.50$11.10
New York$11.50$12.10

You can put it in any entrée, not just a bowl or burrito. Chipotle’s chef pairs it with white rice, black beans, roasted chili-corn salsa and guacamole. Chipotle lists that bowl at 46 grams of protein and 17 grams of fiber, and Tasting Table counted about 830 calories. If you build it differently, our nutrition calculator will total your version.

Reviewers didn’t agree on it. PureWow called it “not to be missed” and Sporked gave it 9.5 out of 10. Tasting Table’s reviewer found the charred, grilled taste took over everything else, though it held up better in a burrito. Not sure you’ll like it? Ask for half chicken and half Pollo Asado. In its recent promotion terms, Chipotle says mixed proteins are charged at the higher price, so you’d pay the Pollo Asado price and get to taste both.

Chili Lime Chips

Customers came up with this one. People had been bringing their own bags of seasoned chips to eat with their burritos, and Chipotle says posts about it jumped more than 1,500% since 2022. So Chipotle made its own: tortilla chips tossed with lime and chili seasoning, with no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

A regular order runs about $2.50, according to Tasting Table, and comes to roughly 550 calories. Plain Chipotle chips cost $1.95 to $2.30 at the restaurants in the September survey, so the seasoning adds roughly 20 to 55 cents, depending on the city.

How spicy they are depends on who you ask. Sporked called them “not very spicy” and liked the balance. Tasting Table found the seasoning heavy and drying, with very little lime. PureWow thought they were best with guacamole but too salty with queso.

October: $6 margaritas and Boorito

Chipotle’s old margarita is back, but you’ll have to travel for it. It’s poured at one pop-up restaurant each October weekend, on Friday and Saturday from 3 to 9 p.m. local time. It costs $6, you must be 21 or older, and it’s made with tequila, triple sec, citrus juice, agave nectar and a lime wedge Chipotle fall menu .

Boorito is on October 31, with an in-restaurant entrée deal. Chipotle hasn’t released this year’s terms yet and says they’re coming later in October. Last year, Rewards members who showed up in costume got one entrée for $6, from 3 p.m. until close 2025 terms. If it works the same way, you’ll need a Rewards account, so it’s easier to set up the Chipotle app now than in line on Halloween.

What to order when it’s cold out

There’s no soup at Chipotle, but some orders suit a chilly evening better than a cold salad. Prices below come from the same September survey, Chicago to New York:

OrderPickup price
Pollo Asado quesadilla$10.50 to $12.65
Chicken quesadilla$9.90 to $12.05
Chips & queso blanco$4.90 to $5.25
Kids cheese quesadilla$4.40 to $4.95
Kids build-your-own (chicken)$5.60 to $5.95

Quesadillas are cooked to order, so they come out hot. Chips and queso blanco is an easy thing to share on a game night. If you’re feeding kids, the kids menu stays under $6 at all four restaurants, and for a bigger group, the catering menu is usually less hassle than ten separate orders.

How long will Pollo Asado and Chili Lime Chips last?

Nobody outside Chipotle knows yet. Both are sold “for a limited time” with no end date announced. When Honey Chicken was leaving in late August, Chipotle announced its final week and ran a free double-protein deal, so watch for a similar notice before Pollo Asado goes. Chipotle has also said it plans three to four limited-time proteins this year, so another one could follow later this year.

Questions people ask

Is Pollo Asado spicy?

Not really. Reviewers describe it as smoky and citrusy rather than hot, and PureWow called it mild enough to go with anything on the menu. If you want heat, add one of the spicier salsas.

Can I get Pollo Asado in a quesadilla or tacos?

Yes. It works in any entrée. A Pollo Asado quesadilla cost $10.50 in Chicago and $12.65 in New York in the September survey.

Are Chili Lime Chips only for Rewards members?

Not anymore. Rewards members got them first on August 31, and since September 4 anyone can order them in the restaurant or online.

Do I need a Rewards account for Boorito?

You did last year, along with a costume, and the deal was in-person only. Chipotle hasn’t confirmed this year’s rules yet.

Can I get the $6 margarita delivered or at my usual Chipotle?

No. Based on Chipotle’s announcement, it’s only at the pop-up restaurant on its scheduled dates, for guests 21 and older.

Will Pollo Asado become permanent?

There’s no sign of that. It left after its 2022 run, and this return is also listed as limited time.

Before you go

Want to try the new chicken without much risk? A half-and-half order costs the same as a full Pollo Asado entrée. The margarita and Boorito dates won’t move, but the seasonal items could disappear with short notice, so check the Chipotle app before you make a trip for them.
